As functional as it is good looking, the glazes used in their manufacture are lead free making them food safe, they can also be used in a microwave or conventional oven (if you can get them to fit).
The open crocks come in sizes from four to twenty litres and have been traditionally used to make sauerkraut and to pickle vegetable and meat, they can be used to store or process any acidic or corrosive foods.
The US two gallon vinegar crock comes with a stoneware lid and a plastic spigot and is ideal for making your own vinegar at home.
